The Habu take the Field!

OKINAWA, JAPAN – Ryukyu Middle School Habu was abuzz with excitement as students and staff gathered to celebrate the Month of the Military Child at the annual field day event on April 25, 2025. This year, the event had an added layer of excitement – for the first time, Iraha Junior High School was invited to join the festivities.

The inclusion of Iraha Junior High School brought a new dynamic to the event, fostering a sense of unity and cultural exchange between the students of Ryukyu Middle School Habu and their peers from Iraha. As students from both schools took part in the field day activities, there was much laughter, camaraderie, and friendly competition.

The field was transformed into a playground of activities, with stations set up for relay races, tug-of-war, volleyball, basketball, and more. The air was filled with the sounds of cheering and encouragement as students competed in various events, showcasing their skills and sportsmanship.

One of the highlights of the day was the relay race, where teams from both schools competed side by side. The students of Ryukyu Middle School and Iraha Junior High School ran with determination, their feet pounding the ground in unison. The race was neck and neck, with each team giving their all. In the end, it was the spirit of teamwork and mutual respect that shone the brightest, as students congratulated each other and celebrated their shared achievement.

As the event ended, the students gathered for a final ceremony. The principal of Ryukyu Middle School Habu and the headmaster of Iraha Junior High School addressed the students, expressing their pride in the day's accomplishments and the importance of building bridges between communities. The ceremony ended with a heartfelt farewell chain of Ryukyu students extending their hands to exchange parting gestures with departing Iraha students, symbolizing the unity and friendship that had blossomed throughout the day.

The annual field day event at Ryukyu Middle School Habu was a resounding success, leaving students with cherished memories and new friendships. As the students departed, they carried with them the spirit of the day, looking forward to future events that would continue to bring them together.
