Ms. Veronica Finney


Veronica Marie Finney is an 18 year career educator with Department of Defense Education Activity (DoDEA), who has impacted the lives of countless young people, school personnel, and community members as a classroom teacher, and as an elementary, middle, and high school assistant principal in America, Europe, and the Pacific.

Ms. Finney began her career in education pre-K, Kindergarten, and first grade teacher at Okinawa Christian School International in Okinawa, Japan after serving eight years in the United States Air Force. She earned her Bachelor of Art degree in History from the University of Maryland. She earned her Master of Art degree in Human Relation from the University of Oklahoma. She also holds a Master’s of Divinity degree from Columbia International University in Columbia, South Carolina.

As a classroom teacher with DoDEA, Ms. Finney taught second and fourth grades and was elected Okinawa District Teacher of the Year. Ms. Finney brings a rich background in classroom differentiated teaching, educational leadership, and staff development facilitation. She enjoys being an active participant in the learning that goes on in the classrooms and a facilitator of the instructional practices that impact how we help students achieve their goals. Ms. Finney takes pride in establishing and maintaining partnerships with the community that yield support for school programs and initiatives. Hard work and commitment are not foreign concepts to her. Ms. Finney delights in rolling up her sleeves and getting to the business of being an instructional leader working with students, school leaders, support staff, educators, and all faculty members who are committed to students and their learning. Ms. Finney is eager to align her work as an Assistant Principal in a new location with DoDEA’s vision and mission to provide an excellent educational experience for military connected students.

Ms. Finney has three grown children, one daughter in-law, one granddaughter, and a grandson. For Ms. Finney, her children are her eternal blessings.

Ms. Finney is a highly motivated energetic professional instructional leader, with exceptional interpersonal skills, and great rapport. She strongly believes all things are possible when we stay humble, work hard, be kind, and have faith.
